Johns Creek is one of Georgia’s newest and largest cities. Johns Creek is located in Fulton County and named for a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, Johns Creek. Johns Creek was originally the home to Cherokee Indians and the first Anglo settlement was by farmers in the early 1800’s. In 1981 a technology park was developed in the area. Soon workers came to live close to the area where they worked. The area was incorporated into a city On December 1, 2006.

Current population is estimated at 70,050, with 1900 businesses in the city. Johns Creek is only thirty miles northeast of the City of Atlanta. It is located ten miles west of Interstate 85, twenty five miles northeast of Interstate 75, 28 miles north of Interstate 20 and eight miles east of Georgia State Highway 400. Highway 400 is the Hospitality Highway that runs from the mountains in North Georgia all the way into downtown Atlanta. This scenic highway has many folk artists, galleries, restaurants and shopping opportunities.

Johns Creek has some of the best public schools in the state and continues to attract many white collar professionals from Atlanta. Several Fortune 500 companies have relocated to Johns Peak since 1980. Lake Lanier is located only 20 miles northeast of Johns Creek. Lake Lanier has almost 700 miles of shoreline and is a very popular spot. At Lake Lanier you will find water sports including fishing, boating, skiing and canoeing.

During the holidays you may want to visit the six mile light show that takes place every year. Schools in Johns Creek are serviced by the Fulton County Schools. Johns Creek High School will open in August of 2009. Atlanta is close enough that residents can also take advantages of all the opportunities of the city.
