Duluth Real Estate Information
A suburb of Atlanta, Duluth is located on the southwest banks of the Chattahoochee River in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Across the river from Duluth is the much newer City of Johns Creek which shares the Duluth post office and zip code. Current estimates of the Duluth’s population are at about 26,000 persons. Duluth is a very popular and exclusive are in the Atlanta Metropolitan area.
In fact some of the most expensive homes in all of Georgia are in Duluth. Public schools are available at the K-12 levels. Automobile access to Atlanta is by Interstate 85. In 2006 a new hospital, Gwinnett Medical Center, opened its doors in Duluth. This very modern 300 bed hospital replaced the Joan Glancy Hospital, which had served Duluth for many years. The Joan Glancy Hospital has been converted to the Joan Glancy Rehabilitation Center.
Duluth is home to the Red Clay Theater, Gwinnett Center, Gwinnett Civic and Cultural Center, and the Gwinnet Place Mall. The historic downtown features many activities for the whole family. Those who work downtown are often invited for a brown bag lunch in the park as a way to meet friends socialize with co-workers.
During summer months family movies are shown in the City Park in a program called Flix at the Bricks. Nearby is Stone Mountain where there are also many great family activities such as hiking and biking along with a laser light show to end the evening. Nearby Lake Lanier offers fishing, boating and swimming in a clear, aqua blue lake located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains.
Nearby Atlanta offers the benefits of any large city. In addition to the famous Atlanta Braves, there are five other professional sports teams in Atlanta. The city is served by the largest and best airport in the nation. This airport has annually had more flights and passengers than any other airport in the United States, but is well equipped for carefree travel.
