Only about 250 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, Atlanta has very moderate winters. Average winter temperatures range from the mid to low 30’s to the mid 50’s. In the summertime, Atlanta’s elevation of 1000 feet above sea level tends to keep it cooler than other areas with highs in the 80’s to 90’s but temperatures can, on occasion, reach above 100 degrees. Most people find that life in Atlanta is lived at an enjoyable, slower pace than in many other cities of its size.
